We all deserve a meaningful life.

“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.” - Brene Brown

Hello! My name is Matt (he/him/his), I’m a second generation Chinese American, and a native New Yorker. After studying and training at various institutions for 10 years, I returned home to NYC in 2017. Before opening my practice in 2020, I was a staff psychologist at Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Student Health Service where I provided mental health services to the next generation of scientists, healthcare providers, and public health experts.

Having worked primarily with young adults, I’ve witnessed the tremendous pressure to succeed and “have it altogether” in this next generation of adults. I’ve heard countless client stories where self-esteem is contingent on performance, and self-worth is sustained by a pursuit for perfection. This of course breeds cycles of negative self-talk, overcompensation, and inevitable burnout. This is why I’ve focused my practice on supporting high-performing & self-critical adults with cultivating a more compassionate and balanced view of themselves and the things that matter most to them.

I pursued this field because I believe every person’s story should be heard. We tend to focus on pain and suffering but miss the tremendous resilience and strength that helped us wade through it all. As a therapist, I want to help you reconcile with the past, guide you to witness your grit, and empower you to see your potential.

This is not an easy process. But I’ll be here with you - every step of the way.
